Hey Y'all! Welcome to my very first blog post! I'm Tasha Livingston, author of "Those Who Care" which is a guided journal for transplant caregivers. Why did I write the book? I was the caregiver for my husband when he underwent his living donor liver transplant back in 2018. He and his donor are doing exceptionally well. Although we had an optimal outcome, there is a caregiver journey that happens as well more on the emotional side of things. There are many other caregivers out there whose situations will vary and they will need the support of someone who understands what they went through, are currently going through, or what they are preparing for!
What can you expect to see here? A few things; not limited to but including the following: One of the biggest things some caregivers struggle with is self-care and remembering to take care of themselves along the journey. I am a self-care fanatic and will share some ways you can take care of yourself without feeling like you are taking away from your loved one! Additionally, many people do not know what to expect along the journey. I go into detail on the process in the book, however I plan to share some details here as well. There will also be conversation surrounding some of the things you can expect after transplant that may surprise you!
I want this to be an interactive space. I encourage you to comment, ask questions, and also never hesitate to let me know if there's anything specific pertaining to the transplant process or caregiver journey that you'd like to see! If you would have asked me at any given point in my life if I would be sitting here writing a blog, I probably would have looked at you as if you were crazy. Probably the same way I looked at the woman who suggested that I write a book prior to me hearing that same direction from God. It wasn't a part of MY plan. But God had other ideas for me after going through the transplant journey with my husband and I couldn't be more excited.
